Only human...

Despite our human tendencies... God prevails.

God works his plan, in his time... despite our human expectations and needs.

God is faithful despite our humanly emotions and personal agendas.

King David learned this and Bathsheba taught us of God's favor.

I am always amazed at how God works to in spite my human disasters and inconsistent obedience and faith.

For me, misery has visited, mourning has hovered, anger has been a frequent flyer yet, God works and his love triumphs despite my human need to cultivate and drum up more business for the darkness than for God's unconditional faithfulness and kindness.

As I read about Bathsheba and King David my thoughts were constantly drawn to an older song by artist, Leslie Phillips. This song always brings great comfort to me and has accompanied my walk in times of darkness and sadness. This song is like the a lighthouse beacon, shining into my misery... taking my eyes from the destruction and my human need to stir up and keep cultivating the darkness... and leads me back to my God whose love and plan always overcomes.

Leslie Phillips Your Kindness Lyrics:
Waiting for angry words
to sear my soul
Knowing I don't
deserve another chance
Suddenly the kindest
words I've ever heard
Come flooding through my heart

It's your kindness that leads us
To repentance Oh Lord
Knowing that You love us
No matter what we do
Makes us want to love You too

No excuse no one to blame
No where to hide
The eyes of God have
found my failures
Found my pain
He understands my weaknesses
And knows my shame
But His heart never leaves me

It's your kindness that leads us
To repentance Oh Lord
Knowing that You love us
No matter what we do
Makes us want to love You too

If You are for us
Who can be against us
You gave us everything
Even Your only Son

It's your kindness that leads us
To repentance Oh Lord
Knowing that You love us
No matter what we do
Makes us want to love You too

1985 Word Music (ASCAP)

Like David, I pray God's faithfulness and kindness will always bring me back to God's redemption and safe haven of his forgiveness.

Clinging to the promise that each day is brighter in God's light...
Letting go of my human need to stand in the darkness...
Rejoicing that purpose will be made complete despite my temporary human shell.

Very human, but, kindly-
ElizaBeth
